The Star-Lord and Gamora costume has been one of my favorite costumes to do! Halloween is my favorite holiday; I jump at any chance to dress up. When my husband suggested we dress up in a Guardians of the Galaxy theme for Halloween in 2023, I was STOKED!
We were going to Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in August, so I had to start planning our costumes quickly! My hair was pretty long at the time, so I decided to just ombré color my hair like Gamora’s instead of opting for a wig. However, I found this ombré black to red wig while looking.
My biggest concern about pulling this costume off was coloring myself green! I went with the Mehron Green Liquid Makeup and the Mehron Makeup Barrier Spray for my face and body. I went with Sephora’s Margs Lipstick for my lips.

The green makeup actually stayed on WAY better than I expected. The photo just below was taken after being out in Florida’s hot August weather for about 3 hours and I had not even reapplied it yet. You can see it coming off on my lip and chin, where I sweat the most. I didn’t apply it as heavily on my arms or body, but some came off while carrying my toddler.

When applying the makeup, I recommend using a brush! I found when I used a makeup sponge, the makeup kept coming off and getting stuck to the sponge when I tried to layer it. That was not the case with the brush. It went on much smoother! I used the setting spray under the makeup and over it.
For my Gamora costume, I wore a plain white tank under this black crop top with these black leather pants. For my husband’s Star-Lord costume, he wore these red cargo pants, this official Marvel shirt, and this red jacket.
So there you have it, our Star-Lord and Gamora costumes. It was really fun to do and I got so many compliments at Disney. Let me know what you think or if you tried it out in the comments!
